Peel Away Dead, Dull Skin
It’s important to understand that the skin’s outermost layer is mostly composed of old, dead, dull skin cells. What are Chemical Peels?
A chemical peel is a form of chemical exfoliation that can be applied to the skin’s surface, in order to remove the outermost layers of dull, dead skin. Over time, following the procedure, the skin will typically grow back far smoother, softer, and more supple – with fewer blemishes and unwanted issues.
Chemical peels use a number of different ingredients and compounds, and the main ingredient is generally some type of acid. They are often divided into categories based on the strength or concentration of the acid, such as light or medium chemical peels, which use a lower concentration of acid, and deep chemical peels which use a much higher concentration of acid.
What Do Chemical Peels & Facials Treat?
Chemical peels and facials can treat a wide variety of different skincare issues, including things like wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or discolorations, acne scarring, blemishes and much more.
The different concentrations of the acid, and the ingredients that the chemical peel includes, will determine what issues are treated and how effective it will be. These peels penetrate the skin at different depths. Light or medium chemical peels are much more superficial and work to treat more surface issues, while a high intensity or deep chemical peel, using a much higher concentration acid, will penetrate much deeper into the skin, and alleviate far more severe skincare issues – however, its important to understand that they also take longer to recover from.
